Our Dinner at Wooden Spoon

October 20, 2012

Parking

After our sister had her recital at UP Diliman, we went to Wooden Spoon at Katipunan. It was difficult to park because   a lot of cars blocked  the parking zone. A guard saw us and he helped us by asking the other cars to move. We parked in front and went in.

We asked the waitress for a table for 8. She led us to a table in front of the restroom. She gave us a menu and we ordered Wansoy Shrimp Nuggets and Crab Pancit. The Wansoy Shrimp Nuggets lived up to  shrimpy expectations but I could barely taste the wansoy. I like the crab pancit because it is crunchy and has real crab meat. (We didn’t get a chance to take a picture  because we gobbled it all up at once.)

Main Dish

Stuffed Pechay

Baked Chicken

Baked Chicken

We ordered   Baked chicken, Squid with chili and mushroom, Shrimp pampango, Wooden spoon fried chicken, Stuffed pechay and Fiesta rice. I think the Baked chicken needs some sort of kick so I put some chili on it but I guess others would like it for its subtle taste. The squid is spicy, the sauce is slightly sweet and it’s perfect seasoned. The Shrimp Pampango is outstanding with the crab fat sauce (aligue) or eaten on its own. The fried chicken is best with gravy. The stuffed pechay is my favorite . It’s stuffed not just with meat  but with a lot of   flavor. We kept eating the coconut sauce with rice after the stuffed pechay was all gone.  The fiesta rice is packed with flavors. It has the Chinese chorizo for sweetness, and  the red eggs and tinapa for saltiness.

Dessert

Pandan crepe

Sago Cake

Sago Cake

We ordered Pandan Crepe and Sago cake. The Pandan crepe has ube ice cream and  mango wrapped in pandan flavored wrap and topped with crunchies. The Sago cake is sweet and has crunchies on top too.

It was an outstanding dinner.

Is it affordable?

The Baked Chicken costs P 185 for 2 ; that’s  P 94.50 per person. The Squid with Chili and Mushroom is P 225 for 3 ; that’s P 75 per person. The Shrimp Pampango cost P 225 . A whole chicken cost  P 195 . Stuffed pechay rolls cost , P 155 for 7 rolls, that’s around  P22 per roll. An order of Fiesta rice for 4 people costs P 145 ;  P 36.25 per person . The pandan crepe costs  P 115 and the  sago cake costs P 65 per person. Our total bill is   about P 1,800.
